Major/Essential Functions

  • Helps developing department's educational and research missions
  • Collaborates with healthcare team to develop a nationally recognized and externally funded education program
  • Teaches residents, medical students, and other medical professionals research protocols, planning and conducting research, data collection, analyzing results and outcomes, protocols for publications in journals and presentations, grant writing, as well as medical simulation
  • Applies advanced and sophisticated statistical analytic approaches to medical education datasets to achieve program aims
  • Works closely with Residency Program Director and Student Clerkship Program Director and faculty to devise approaches to meet complex analytic needs and then independently test/execute statistical analysis
  • Works in conjunction with Simulation Coordinators and Operators to compile data for the educational program
  • Develops and implements innovative research studies for medical simulation and the filing of applications for funding via multiple sources
  • Identifies extramural grants/partnership funding opportunities (governmental, professional foundations, and industry) for simulation education research
  • Complies with regulatory requirements by funding agencies, data sources, IRB and other external and internal regulatory boards
  • Performs and synthesizes literature searches, analyze, and summarize relevant material
  • Provides support to assist faculty through the tenure/promotion process
  • Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility

  • Significant understanding of and experience in statistical analysis and database management
  • Demonstrate research experience in educational evaluation and test validation
  • Demonstrate competencies in statistics, medical education, or biomedical sciences
  • Demonstrate skills in quantitative and qualitative research
  • Able to develop a sustainable line of medical educational research

Required Qualifications
Terminal academic degree (or its equivalent) as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Ability to teach effectively.
