Emergency Medicine Elp Genl
Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit.
On-site supervision of resident and students on a 24-hr basis; provides resident and student evaluation, testing, and counseling
Attends to patients in the Emergency Department
Participates in resident and faculty recruitment
Serves as medical control physician for El Paso EMS while on duty in emergency department
Assists Department Chair with implementation of departmental policies and monitoring staffing effectiveness
Participates in national societies including ACEP and SAEM
Participates in medical research projects related to emergency medicine
Participates in medical school and hospital committees
Assists with development and implementation of special departmental projects
Delivers presentations in conferences for residents, students, nurses, and emergency medical technicians
Audits charts and participates in other endeavors for performance improvement in patient care
Regularly attends and participates in morbidity-morality conferences and journal clubs
Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility
Knowledge of and adherence to institutional and departmental safety policies and procedures
Attends mandatory training provided and required by TTUHSC El Paso
Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate’s intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity.
MD or DO degree
Successful completion of ACGME-accredited residency program in emergency medicine
Valid unrestricted medical license or eligibility for medical license in Texas
Board certification in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine, or successful completion of an ACGME accredited fellowship program in one of the emergency medicine subspecialties
Evidence of academic and clinical accomplishments
Experience and demonstrated interest in teaching residents and students
Spanish language skills
Evidence of growth in teaching and research activities relating to the EM specialty
