Computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records

Major/Essential Functions
  • Verifies insurance benefits and obtains pre-authorizations or referrals as required by insurance carriers and assures health plan has been followed
  • Data entry of all charges for in-patient and out-patient hospital billing on a weekly basis current to the previous week
  • Updates patient accounts with current coverage and completes registrations of new accounts and enters financial comments in CBIZ on a daily basis
  • Verifies insurance benefits and obtains pre-authorizations for in-patient billing on a daily basis
  • Compiles all provider billing batch totals for the month and provides hospital billing totals for each provider
  • Reviews all upfront TES edits in ETM under registration inpatient and outpatient hospital and corrects them accordingly. Then submits the correction for reprocessing of the charge entries

  • Knowledge and familiarity with all insurance and government program guidelines and terminology
  • Knowledge and familiarity with data entry process
  • Some knowlegdge of ICD-9 and CPT process
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

Required Qualifications
  • Completion of high school or the equivalent with one year experience
  • May require a typing proficiency of 50 words per minute
