Major/Essential Functions
  • Provides patient care in the areas of burn, trauma, and surgical critical care in hospital and outpatient settings
  • Instructs and supervises medical students and surgery residents
  • Performs burn and surgical procedures
  • Conducts clinical research and/or produces scholarship related to burn and surgical critical care.Provide in-house on-call coverage, as scheduled
  • Ensures compliance and HIPAA and billing regulations
  • Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Statement of Faculty Professional Responsibility

Preferred Qualifications
  • Board certification in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery
  • Board certification in surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery
  • Strong work ethics and good team player
  • Experience or interest in teaching students and residents
  • Experience or interest in conducting research and publishing scientific reports
  • Emerging or established regional and national reputation for the rank of associate professor higher

Required Qualifications
  • M.D/D.O.
  • Successful completion of ACGME-accredited residency training in general surgery
  • Successful completion of ACGME-accredited fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care
  • Successful completion of fellowship training in burn surgery
  • Texas Medical License or eligible for licensure in the State of Texas
