Major/Essential Functions
  • Performs clinical duties, including sign-out responsibilities, gross frozen section coverage, night/weekend call duties, and presentation at tumor boards at the assigned hospital
  • Participates in teaching activities for medical students, residents, and laboratory technicians
  • Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship
  • Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work
  • Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission
  • Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine’s Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and departmental billing regulations
  • Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures

Required Qualifications
  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Successful completion of ACGME-accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Pathology
  • Board certification in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology
  • Unrestricted Texas Medical License, or eligible for Texas Medical licensure
  • Experience in pediatric pathology sign-outs
  • Experience in general surgical pathology sign-outs
  • Experience in the interpretation of frozen sections
  • Experience in the performance and interpretation of bone marrows
  • Experience in grossing and in performing autopsies
