Major/Essential Functions
  • Provides academic and clinical instruction within the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing (GGHSON) and the Training and Educational Center for Healthcare Simulation (TECHS)
  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts clinical experiences for nursing students
  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts simulation activities according to the TECHS mission and vision
  • Participates in scholarly and academic activities appropriate to rank
  • Dual report to the undergraduate Assistant Dean (GGHSON) and the Executive Director (TECHS)
  • Maintains academic standards as established by the school and the university
  • Teaches students in the simulation center and clinical settings
  • Acts as the lead for coordination and planning of simulation curriculum offered through the GGHSON
  • Assists with the setup and faculty preparation for simulation sessions offered at TECHS for all disciplines
  • Delivers education for healthcare professional development courses (such as ACLS and PALS)
  • Provides feedback and instructional support to faculty and staff teaching within the simulation center
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of school, program, course, and student activities with an emphasis on interprofessional programs
  • Plans professional development activities for self, such as continued education offerings, workshops and professional meetings, etc.
  • Participates in program, school, university committees, and in other activities associated with professional status
  • Maintains membership and serves as member of at least two healthcare simulation professional societies
  • Performs assessments and provides feedback on faculty instructional design and simulation debriefing techniques
  • Stays current on areas of simulation-based education and healthcare practice and incorporates these techniques in to clinical and simulation-based teaching
  • Conducts research or practice activities appropriate to rank
  • Displays scholarly orientation to the assumption of the responsibilities of a university faculty member as defined in the guidelines of qualifications for faculty appointment rank
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications
  • D.N.P., or Ph.D., in nursing or related discipline from an accredited program.
  • CHSE, CHSOS or other simulation specific training/certification.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of simulation curriculum and instructional design and implementation.

Required Qualifications
  • Masters of Sciences in Nursing (MSN)
  • Licensure as Registered nurse in the State of Texas or compact state recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing
  • Minimum of two (2) years recent clinical experience
  • Evidence based knowledge of instructional process and education evaluation techniques relevant to simulation
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience delivering education using simulation best practices
  • Able to become instructor for AHA courses.  (ACLS, PALS, etc.)
