Performs executive, administrative duties concerning various aspects of operational management in support of the Service Plus philosophy and mission of Texas Tech.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Responsible for strategic planning and leadership of  the TTUHSC El Paso Office of Student Services to support students’ academic and professional goals across  all TTUHSC El Paso component schools in compliance with governmental regulations, accreditation standards and university policies
  • Oversees the staff, budget and policies of the Office of Student Services, including student financial aid, registrar’s office, academic and disability support services, and student wellness (student health services, counseling services)
  • Serve as the Title IX Deputy Coordinator for students and work closely with institutional Title IX Deputy, General Counsel’s Office, and Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)
  • Develop and assess current and future services, products, facilities, procedures and policies for students
  • Cultivates collaborative relationships with students, faculty, staff and administration to foster a positive, equitable and inclusive learning environment and diverse student body
  • Supports student governance including the Student Government Association, student organizations and student life programs
  • Oversees the maintenance of an institutional Student Handbook/Code of Professional and Academic Conduct and due process mechanisms
  • Supports the coordination of TTUHSC El Paso Commencement Exercises
  • May participate in teaching, clinical service, scholarly activity (particularly in scholarship related to student services) and academically-related public service with a goal of working towards academic promotion as a faculty member
  • This position will be a 1.0 FTE with 80% of time dedicated to the Office of Student Services and 20% of time dedicated to a faculty appointment in the selected candidate's discipline, if applicable

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with ADA, FERPA, Title IX and other federal and state regulations affecting student services
  • Experience in the management of student services functions including financial aid, registrar, student academic support, disability services, student conduct/due process and student wellness
  • Demonstrated skills in organizational administrative functions including financial/budgetary and personnel management skills
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in managing complex organizational processes and making data-driven decisions
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a culturally competent professional with broad experience interacting with and supporting the needs of a diverse student population
  • Professional society engagement in the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA)
  • Qualifications for a faculty appointment at the Associate Professor rank or higher, if seeking a concurrent faculty appointment

Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree
  • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in student services at the level of director, assistant/associate dean, assistant/associate provost or assistant/associate vice president
  • Successful track record of working effectively and collegially with faculty, administrators, students and members of the community
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
