Position Description
Performs administrative duties in the management and coordination of a large specialized project and program. Under general supervision, performs varied and complex administrative duties requiring independent judgment and the application of established policies and procedures. May provide supervision and direction to clerical, para-professional or professional staff members.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Performs the supervisory duties over a Program Coordinator and is responsible for the direct oversight, guidance of the medical education evaluation program
  • Create, deliver and report on MD program, phase components and faculty evaluation including the annual report and institutional effectiveness plan for Office of Medical education via best practices in program assessment
  • Both qualitative and quantitative analysis of data collected thru the evaluation/assessment system for longitudinal reporting via statistical analyses tools (SPSS, SAS, NVivo, etc.)
  • Identifies and documents area with opportunities for continuous quality improvement based on evaluation system feedback and works closely with the Director of Accreditation and Educational Program Improvement to elevate to LCME leadership advisory group
  • Assist in designing and delivering related assessment topics in faculty development, including providing expertise in curricular and instructional design and learning theory
  • Provide administrative support for the Committee on Evaluation
  • Assist directors and faculty in student and faculty research projects regarding the evaluation perspectives and survey development
  • Initiate and support medical education research and scholarship by faculty and staff at the school of medicine, including selection of research design and interpretation of data
  • Provide leadership in the design and implementation of formative and summative assessment tools, including mapping assessment tools to educational program objectives, core competencies and/or entrustable professional activities (EPAs) and visualization and reporting tools such as faculty and course evaluation and assessment dashboards
  • Consult with faculty and staff in the development of rubrics, observation protocols, and other assessment tools
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in current assessment practices and research on student learning
  • Provide oversight and guidance to faculty and staff working-directly with medical student academic performance assessment and curriculum evaluation, directing initiatives to improve both assessment and evaluation strategies
  • Assists all Medical Education Deans with periodic program reviews and work with faculty to revise processes when needed
  • Conduct medical education research
  • Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) with preference given to degrees in curricular design, teaching, assessment, program evaluation
  • 5 years of responsible progressive experience in medical college administration or health sciences university

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely related field
  • Four years of related administrative and technical experience
  • Additional job related education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
Job Specific:
  • Knowledge of best practices in evaluation and assessment in education
  • Experience in supervision of staff
  • Experience with the application of educational learning theory and advanced statistical analyses
  • Knowledge of application of evaluation and assessment in higher education setting, preferably medical education
  • Experience with SPSS and NVivo
  • 3 years statistical analysis experience in an educational setting
