Position Description
Assists in managing a department that has institutional oversight responsibilities. Responsible for the development, coordination and administration of the department.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Design and implementation of Enterprise security applications for the Institution
  • Provide strategic planning and technical guidance to the Information Security Operations team
  • Manage personnel to support the Information Security Operations of the Institution and recruit personnel as needed
  • Work with supervisor to oversee the Information Security Operations team with coordination, planning and implementation of new technology as well as enhancements to existing infrastructure.
  • Act as a Liaison between the departments and Information Security during the planning and Implementation, redesign, or upgrade of new technology.
  • Assist supervisor with the management of the Information Security Operations budget.
  • Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. Ensure that Information Security related procedures adhere to organizational values
Position Specific Qualification
  • Experience in one or more information security domains as defined by the ISC2 CISSP Common body of Knowledge (CBK), which currently includes: Access Control, Information security and risk management, application security, operations security, security architecture and design, physical and environmental security, telecommunications and network security, cryptography, legal regulations, compliance, and investigations.
  •  Experience in key areas within information technology (ex. application development, application support, software, operating systems, networking). An understanding of various operating systems (ex. Windows, Macintosh OSX, and Unix/Linux) to include an understanding of system administration.
  • An understanding of networking and network protocols.
  • The ability to effectively communicate your ideas orally and in writing.
  • Must be willing to work after hours and/or weekends when required and be part of an on call schedule as necessary.
  • This position requires a very high level of proficiency in the theoretical and practical application of specialized knowledge in computer system analysis, and software engineering related to information security.

Pay Statement
Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.
