Major/Essential Functions
  • Reports to and regularly updates the Associate Dean of GME for GME-related activities. Reports to corresponding Transmountain Department Chair for non-GME activities
  • Guides the creation of Program Information Files and manages the ACGME application submission and review process
  • Participates in the recruitment, supervision, and mentoring of residency program directors for each new residency program
  • Supervises residency program directors at the westside hospital site and works collaboratively to assure compliance with ACGME requirementes for each residency program
  • Participates in the Graduate Medical Education Committee
  • Serves as Program Director for the Transitional Year Residency. In this role: Directs the planning, administration, and operation of the residency program for compliance with ACGME and RRC guidelines and Fulfills all duties and responsibilities of the program director as defined in RRC guidelines
  • Provides consultations and clinical services in outpatient and inpatient settings
  • Maintains all applicable licenses, controlled substance registrations, board certifications, hospital privileges, and third pary payer enrollments in good standing
  • Supervises residents and participates in teaching activities for medical students and/or residents
  • Participates in research and/or scholarly activities in the department
  • Participates in committees and other administrative duties as assigned
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
  • Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility

Required Qualifications
Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate’s intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity.
  • M.D./D.O.
  • Licensed in Texas or eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas
  • Current board certification by an American Board of Medical Specialties board
  • Eligible for a faculty appointment in a clinical department of the School of Medicine at the rank of Associate Professor or higher
  • Experience in graduate medical education at the level of fellowship or residency program director, Assistant/Associate Dean for GME, departmental vice-chair of education, or similar position
  • Must meet the practitioner recruitment requirements as set forth in the Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law
