Major/Essential Functions
  • The position reports to the Dean of the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine and the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Transmountain Campus of TTUHSC EP
  • Serves as the Chief of Service at the Hospitals of Providence Transmountain campus upon confirmation of appointment by hospital
  • Implement the strategic plan for the department in which each of the missions of education, patient care, scholarship and service is enhanced
  • Recruit and retain faculty as defined by recruitment plan or subsequent modifications to meet clinical service and educational program requirements
  • Facilitate mentoring and promotion-oriented faculty development opportunities in collaboration with Department Chair at Department of OB/GYN, TTUHSC El Paso
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the educational and clinical goals and objectives of the Department, including the establishment of a new residency program in OB/GYN
  • Ensure the Department achieves high levels in financial performance, support of education, high quality clinical services, scholarship and collaboration with colleagues and partner institutions
  • Provide teaching opportunities within the OB/GYN Department, Transmountain Campus of TTUHSC El Paso for medical students
  • Be accountable for compliance with Joint Commission, Federal and State accreditation requirements within the Department of OB/GYN , Transmountain Campus of TTUHSC El Paso and support the School's requirements in these areas
  • Collaborate with colleagues at the Department of OB/GYN, TTUHSC  El Paso and Department of OB/GYN, Transmountain Campus of TTUHSC El Paso in establishing a regional reputation for clinical excellence and sustain a commitment to excellence in undergraduate education, resident education and scholarship for the Department of OB/GYN
  • Develop professional relationship within the department, across the health sciences center, and within our partner hospital and community
  • Manage and balance competing agendas and priorities while maintaining focus on the institutional goals and objectives
  • Develop a departmental culture that emphasizes collaboration and mutual trust and respect with a shared vision for the future that drives priorities and a sense of mutual responsibility and and accountability for performance across the department
  • Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
  •  Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations and requirements
  • Demonstrate professionalism in accordance with PLFSOM's declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility

Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • M.D. / D.O.
  • Texas Medical license or eligibility for licensure within twelve moths in the State of Texas
  • Board certification in OB/GYN or sub-specialty by the American Board of OB/GYN
  • Qualified for faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor
  • Must meet the practitioner recruitment requirements as set forth in the Anti-kickback Statute and Stark Law
  • Entrepreneurial and visionary leader with program development skills who enjoys building departments and developing new programs and services
  • A basic understanding of budgeting, revenue management and productivity considerations and a willingness to work closely with the TTUHSC El Paso administration to manage these areas within the department
  • Leadership ex[experience at the level of Department Chair, Vice Chair, Division Chief, Medical Director, Program Director, or other comparable experience
  • Experience as a practicing clinician in an academic medical center and willingness to maintian a high level and visibility in the clinical setting
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities to secure the confidence and cooperation of others, strong appreciation and understanding of the critical importance and synergy between patient care, education, research and scholarly activity, s well as the independent relationship inherent in a health care science center
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively and effectively with the leadership of the Departmnet of OB/GYN, TTUHSC El Paso
  • Experience with knowledge and execution of GME in OB/GYN

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a practice setting which includes an academic/private sector collaboration
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Experience in recruiting, retaining, mentoring and developing high qualified faculty, staff and residents
  • A track record of leading diverse faculty and staff and effectively serving diverse patient populations
  • Master's degree in business administration , healthcare administration , public administration, medical management, or equivalent degree
  • While not required to develop external research funding themselves, the successful candidate must be familiar with organization and conduct of clinical research and scholarship and be able to maintain a culture which supports scholarship sufficient to meet program accreditation
  • Experience working in culturally diverse environment with sensitivity toward cultural difference
