Position Description
Coordinates a section in a department that has institutional oversight responsibilities. Responsibilities involve the coordination and supervision of the various functions and aspects of a specific program or departmental project as well as the monitoring of program staff and operational procedures. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on results obtained. May supervise program staff, volunteers and/or students.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Assist in the preparation and processing of non-immigrant and immigrant petitions to include completion of official USCIS forms
  • Responsible for coordinating with departmental contacts and foreign nationals to obtain necessary information and documents for filing procedures
  • Assist in processing J-1 Exchange Visitor Visa requests in SEVIS
  • Maintain database for foreign national case management and serve as administrator
  • Create and maintain individual files for complete documentation and records retention of each foreign national employee case
  • Coordinate requests from outside agencies/firms as necessary
  • Responsible to review and complete new hire documentation for all foreign employees on a J-1, H-1B, or TN Visa
  • Track I-9 expiration list from Banner and follow through with timely re-verification
  • Provide assistance in other areas as needed in the VISA office
  • Perform legal research under the direction of an attorney and gathers information regarding laws, regulations, court and administrative decision and similar materials
  • Responsible for all departmental projects and must take the lead on all assignments
  • Distribute all the work to all other junior staff and manage all processes for office filing case assignments, and time entry
  • Must travel within the city for LCA compliance
  • Must have prior experience reviewing an completing I-9 documents and obtaining proper identification for authorization to work.  Must have experience processing H-1B, O-1, E-3, PERM, EB-1, EB-2, EB-3, Case management experience

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.
