Major/Essential Functions
- On a daily basis serves as primary contact for patients by receiving them when they arrive to clinic. Greets all patients, takes a brief history for physician to review. Takes vital signs as needed, escorts patients to exam rooms and prepares them for examination by physician, when visit complete must turnover room for next patient. Per direction from physician, provides wound care and dressing changes. Is the lead for CMAs and directly supervises subordinate CMAs, works to ensure appropriate coverage is in place for smooth clinic operations. Ensure they and staff complete the visit note and sent to referring physician at the end of a visit
- Reviews medical charts for completeness prior to patient's arrival and obtains all pertinent reports/documents (lab, path reports, operative reports, discharge summaries, and imaging reports). Follows-up with patients to return to clinic once lab or imaging results are obtained. Contact patients for surgical procedure scheduling or treatment. Ensures electronic visit note has been completed
- Obtain authorization for medical services related to the patient plan of care, medications, ancillary testing, etc. Assist the clinic front area to include answering incoming calls, provide registration of patient and schedule the patient for appointments using the TTUHSC appointment scheduling system and AVAYA telephone system

Required Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED Equivalent.
- Must be a graduate of a CAAHEP or ABHES Medical Assisting Program.
- Current Medical Assistant Certification required.
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary setting; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
