Position Description
Employees in this classification provide patient care management to an assigned clinic in the areas of clerical and clinical duties. In clinical setting, the employee receives direct supervision from physician or nursing supervisor in either oral or written form. In office setting, the employee receives direct supervision from department administrator. Work is performed under usual office and clinic conditions. May be stressful when working under emergency conditions.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Records height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations, and pain assessment
  • Records participants medical history
  • Administers injections
  • Gives instructions to participant on the next HPV vaccine
  • Verifies identity of the participant with HPV vaccine order
  • Obtain project director or co-director approval for all HPV vaccine
  • Ensures that all program documents are completed accurately
  • Navigating program participants through the health care system for HPV vaccines, arrange appointments, referrals and follow ups
  • Identify and facilitate social service referrals such as transportation, access to health care, child care, insurance
  • Identifies participant personal and environmental barriers and assists participants and their families in identifying solutions to the barriers
  • Perform other tasks and duties assigned by the supervisor of Project Director/Co-Director within the policies of the department and TTUHSC in order to meet the goals and the objectives of the program and the department
Position Specific:
Must have current Medical Assistant and CPR certifications. Must interact effectively with a broad range of people at all levels:  must conduct. Must possess excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills, and be a team player. Attention to detail in record keeping, documentation, and reporting is vital to the position. Must have knowledge in the health care system and familiarity navigating patients through the system for services; must have extensive work and experience and knowledge of people, organizations, in El Paso, Texas and surrounding areas. Must have excellent English grammar and spelling skill. Must be able to travel to collaborating sites throughout El Paso County and West Texas

Required Qualifications
Education:  
  •  A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. 

License/Certification: 
  • Graduation from an approved certified program for assistants in the area of required specialty.
  • Certification by an approved accredited certifying agency in the specialty that particular work will be performed.
