Position Description
Employees in this classification provide patient care management to an assigned clinic in the areas of clerical and clinical duties. In clinical setting, the employee receives direct supervision from physician or nursing supervisor in either oral or written form. In office setting, the employee receives direct supervision from department administrator. Work is performed under usual office and clinic conditions. May be stressful when working under emergency conditions.

Major/Essential Functions
Work as clinical assistant team member working with a physician or other provider in patient care.  Prepare patients for exams and treatments.  Assist physicians for various procedures and physical exams. Receive and respond to patient medical calls or messages.  Assist physician to fill out forms for medical assistance or medical orders and disperse.  Participate in clinical year round performance improvements, joint commission readiness and patient satisfaction surveys.  Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor, chair, administrator or faculty member.  Required-ability to communicate effectively both orally, written and electronically.  Manual dexterity to perform procedures.  Familiarity with modern office and medical equipment; knowledge of principles and applications of medical ethics, knowledge of medical terminology.

Required Qualifications
Education:  
  •  A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. 

License/Certification: 
  • Graduation from an approved certified program for assistants in the area of required specialty.
  • Certification by an approved accredited certifying agency in the specialty that particular work will be performed.
  • CPR certified.
