Position Description
Supervises and delegates nursing care of members of the health team. May perform nursing care based on staffing needs. Functions within the legal scope of practice and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organization and practice setting. Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates patient care services. Provides supervision and direction to subordinate nursing staff to ensure a safe, efficient, and professional environment.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Be responsible for proper and safe medication management inside the clinics, including storage, inventory, administration, patient monitoring and documentation
  • Be responsible for in-clinic point of care laboratory testing
  • Be responsible for storage, processing and disposal of instruments used in clinics, including the processing of re-usable instruments, working in cooperation with the Infection Control Office
  • Implementation of other infection control practices throughout the clinics (low level disinfection, isolation, precautions, hand hygiene)
  • Oversee that in-clinic procedures are performed in compliance with policies related to safety and quality

Occasional Duties
  • Training and oversight of nurses in clinic processes and policies
  • Oversee that applicable clinic staff has the proper and updated training and competencies for their nursing related functions
  • Review and approve purchases of equipment from a clinical perspective in consultation with Infection Control and Safety Services
  • Attend meetings with other components of Clinics Operations, review related metrics and work to achieve goals as outlined by clinical leadership

Required Qualifications
  • A current R.N. license as approved by the Texas State Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas. Education/Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree from an approved accredited University; at least four years of nursing experience, of which two of those years are in a supervisory capacity, OR graduated from an approved accredited nursing program; at least six years of nursing experience of which two of those years are in a supervisory capacity
