Position Description
Provides leadership and direction in all aspects of administering multiple university branch campuses or major satellite locations. Meets ORP eligibility requirements. Plans, develops and implements strategies for generating resources and revenues. Has budget administrative oversight of overall operations of units. Reports to Vice President or above. Directs and supervises multiple Managing Directors.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Lead MPIP operations to drive measurable performance improvement in the following areas: revenue cycle  rations, management of revenue and charge capture, charge interfaces, professional billing and collections, provider plan enrollment, credit balance management, denial management, specified coding activities and related education, payor contract negotiations, establishment of dashboards, and enhanced effectiveness of related technology platforms.
  • Lead MPIP team to deliver Service Plus performance.
  • Provide strategic advice to campus leadership regarding healthcare industry trends and "best practices" (including analyzing and recommending strategic opportunities to pursue).
  • Other duties as assigned by the VP for Finance and Administration/CFO

Preferred Qualifications
  •  Master's degree in Business or related Finance Discipline
  •  Minimum 9 Years’ of director-level or above revenue cycle operations experience with a revenue cycle management company, payor, large healthcare system, or academic medical institution
  •  Knowledge of revenue cycle operations, including oversight and management of revenue and charge capture, charge interfaces, professional billing and collections, provider plan enrollment, credit balance management, denial management, specified coding activities and related education, payor contract negotiations, establishment of dashboards, and related technology platforms
  •  Demonstrated accomplishments in leadership with results-oriented philosophy
  •  Strong project management and analytical abilities
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Extensive financial and operations management in a regional corporate or academic medical school practice plan environment
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to drive performance improvement
  • Knowledge of GE Centricity Business or Cerner practice management system
  • Knowledge of Banner System
  • Knowledge of Cognos reporting software
  • Interface with EMR’s
- Knowledge of Joint Commission Credentialing Standards
- General knowledge of professional and hospital outpatient billing rules and regulations
- Understanding of industry standard physician, health care entity, and payor contract language

Occasional Duties
This Executive Director, Medical Practice Income Plan position will be responsible for the financial analytics in support of physician, payor contracting, and billing and collection activities for the medical practice plan, including monitoring of Clinical Department financial performance and medical productivity levels, and costs. This position will oversee activities related to the medical practice plan revenue cycle. The position will be accountable for the development and implementation of practice plan dashboards (to include revenue cycle performance and improvement opportunities), will participate in other activities of the faculty practice plan, will be an advisor to clinical and administrative leadership on present and future opportunities to maximize reimbursement. This position will have oversight on education and monitoring of providers and staff on proper billing practices, as well as oversight on the standard process of patient registrations and pre-authorization of services. The Executive Director will report to the Vice President for Finance and Administration/Chief Financial Officer, and will direct and supervise multiple Managing Directors.

Required Qualifications
Master's Degree required, terminal degree preferred. Nine years progressively responsible management experience required. Education beyond the master's level may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
