Position Description
Safely performs journeyman level tasks in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of fixtures, equipment, structures, buildings, and built-in components for Texas Tech facilities. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs work to complete and assist with maintenance, repair and operational duties of the TTUHSC fleet to include golf carts, vehicles, and EV equipment. Areas of work include electrical, carpentry and painting. Essential functions are performed with emphasis on vehicle and lot maintenance. Responds in an effective and efficient manner to standard and urgent calls. Responsible for responding to emergency situations (requiring immediate action). Performs shuttle driving services as required.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Serves as driver/chauffeur for faculty, staff, residents and students.
  • Service state vehicles and golf carts for preventative maintenance to ensure safe mobility and functionality. Performs preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Assist in parking reservation set ups and signage installations.
  • Participates in the Installation, maintenance, operation, and repair of parking systems and associated equipment.
  • Works with other trades and maintenance staff to complete maintenance and installation of parking systems and maintenance.
  • Prepare and submit work documentation, to include work order submission, changes to system (e.g. directories), etc. Supervises documentation prepared by assigned personnel.
  • Responds to work related service calls on a timely and efficient manner. Responds to emergency calls and/or performs scheduled work after hours, weekends and holidays as required. Work and service calls shall be resolved in a timely and efficient manner. Basic and Specialized Tools and devices. Vehicles, lifts, and other motorized equipment 
  • Responsible for keeping all work areas, equipment and tools clean and in excellent working conditions.
  • Performs service work to campus special events and functions. Performs other related and various job duties as assigned.
  • Contributes with knowledge and skilled labor to parking projects of the institution.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Must be knowledgeable of the city of El Paso area/streets.
  • Knowledge on basic vehicle maintenance and workplace safety.
  • Bilingual: Spanish and English.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Basic knowledge and ability to install, operate and maintain vehicles and associated equipment. 
  • Skilled in the proper use of tools, equipment and devices used in the construction and maintenance trades.
  • Knowledge of occupational and safety hazards. Wear appropriate PPE specific for the trade & follow processes to prevent accidents.
  • Able to work and respond to emergency calls on weekends, holidays and after hours.
  • Basic understanding of other trades and able to perform or assist in the completion of them.
