Position Description
Employees in the classification design and implement health education programs designed to increase awareness and knowledge for the improvement of health in a single, group, or community setting. Keeps up-to-date on changes in health care technology to keep health education program material current.. Employees in this classification receive limited supervision and work is evaluated based on progress toward a set of goals by immediate supervisor. May supervise student assistants and other clerical personnel. Work is performed under usual clinic and office conditions and requires a great deal of patient contact and contact with community resource people. Some work is performed after usual office hours.

Educate community members on obesity prevention.
Create and update regularly, evidence based curricula on obesity prevention for community members.
Organize and maintain documents on educational sessions and participant contacts.
Engage in outreach to community.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing curricula for community members. Ability to speak in front of small and large audience.  Travel to various parts of El Paso County to deliver educational programming. Experience with educational programs for obesity prevention. Ability to engage in community outreach.

Fluency in Spanish and English. Ability to use computers, tablets, smartphones or similar technologies.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an approved accredited university in a field relevant to the work being conducted; one year of work experience demonstrating health education practices, techniques, and principles.
