Position Description
Performs specialized Post Doctoral work in the planning, conducting and/or supervision of original research in infectious diseases at TTUHSC. Responsible for participating in a research project associated with Ph.D. studies and the interpretation of the results of publication. Apply microbiological, immunological and molecular techniques using small animal infection models. Work is performed under supervision of graduate faculty members with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. May supervise research and student assistants.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Performs scientific research related to vaccine development to tuberculosis.
  • Assists with training and direction of graduate students and volunteers.
  • Assists with data analysis, the preparation of manuscripts and posters.
  • Responsible for day to day maintenance of lab and lab equipment; including ordering supplies and verification of receipt in appropriate university systems.
  • Prepare drafts of research papers, posters and talks to disseminate research results. Yearly submission of grant applications. Presents data at lab meetings and possibly regional and national meetings.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in working with infectious diseases in biosafety level 3 (BSL3) facility, small animal research, cell culture and flow cytometry.
