Position Description
Performs specialized work in conducting original research. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Amplification of RNA and DNA isolated from a variety of cells and tissues using PCR based method. Site directed mutagenesis, cloning, and sequencing. 
  • Protein isolation, purification, identification, and quantitation using SDS-PAGE, western blot, and immunoprecipitation analysis. 
  • Perform digital imaging of cells and tissues using microscopes, including confocal microscope. 
  • Breeding of animals for desired genotypes and genotyping of mice using PCR and southern blotting. Maintenance of up-to-date records of mice databases with genotypes. 
  • Analysis of expression genes and proteins using Real-Time PCR analysis. 
  • Collects, records, maintains, interprets, and prepares data for presentation. 
  • Biochemical assays and methods, including kinase essay, ELISA, RIA, western blot, and immunoprecipitation analysis, etc. 
  • Preparation of culture cells and tissue for histological, immunofluorescence, and immunocytochemical analysis. 
  • Responsible for day-to-day maintenance of lab and lab equipment, including ordering supplies, dishwashing, etc. 
  • Other duties are required to ensure the smooth operation of the research lab and to facilitate the conduct of approved research study. 
Position specific qualifications
Bachelor's degree in biological sciences field and 1 year of laboratory related work experience with mouse and mammalian cells. Must have the ability to maintain complex and accurate records, use independent judgement, and have knowledge of basic skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data is essential. Ability to multi-task, keep up with extensive amounts of requests, prioritize, and learn new techniques. Proficient computer skills (MS Office Suite) and oral and written communication.

Knowledge of biomedical methods, ability to perform bench experiments, and use of advance research software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Graphpad Prism, and statistical analysis.
