Position Description
Performs advanced, specialized work in the planning, conducting, and/or supervising of original research at TTUHSC. Responsible for participating in, planning, scheduling and/or supervising research projects and the interpretation of the results for publication. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. May supervise research and student assistants.

Major/Essential Functions

• Work with research investigators to develop project educational materials, study protocols and procedures
• Effectively use resources to manage and implement primary data collection, develop study related databases, assist with statistical analysis
• Prepares human subject applications and collects study related documents to ensure project compliance with institutional and grant regulations
• Maintain communication with project director ensure all program goals and objectives (target numbers) are met
• Responsible for writing and editing of manuscripts/posters/abstracts to include organizing and preparation of tables and figures with statistical results for investigators
• Assess staffing needs for projects
• Manages the implementation of assigned research projects, ensuring staff are compliant with all protocols and regulatory requirements
• Ensures all staff under supervision are achieving the assigned goals in a timely manner and with accuracy

Occasional Duties

• Assist with preparation of grant (writing and editing) and their submission
• Coordinates progress reporting for sponsor agency. Work with various oversight departments in submitting all related documents for regulatory purposes
• Provides expertise, support and assistance to research personnel on all projects in the division as needed in development, implementation or assessment processes
• Manages primary data collection in person or through close supervision of research personnel; checks integrity and accuracy of the data
• Responsible for developing, managing and checking the accuracy of databases maintained by the division
• Assists Director with managing learners who are assigned to the research program

Required Qualifications

• Doctoral degree (Ph. D.) or specialized academic training beyond the Bachelor's level in a particular field of science or engineering equivalent to a Doctoral degree
• Two years research experience; knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources and standards thereof
