Major/Essential Functions

Position Description:
On-site supervision of residents and students on a 24-hour basis; provides resident and student evaluation, testing, and counseling
Attends to patients in the Emergency Department
Participates in resident and faculty recruitment
Serves as medical control physician for El Paso EMS while on duty in Emergency Department
Assists Department Chair with implementation of departmental policies and monitoring staffing effectiveness
Active participation in national societies including ACEP and SAEM
Active participation in medical research projects relating to EM
Participate in Medical School and hospital committees
Assist with development and implementation of special departmental projects; conference presentations to residents, students, nurses, EMT’s
Audits of charts and participation in other endeavors for Performance Improvement of patient care
Regular attendance and participation at morbidity-mortality and Journal Club Conferences
Demonstrate professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine’s Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility
Knowledge and  adherence to institutional and departmental safety policies and procedures
Attends mandatory training provided and required by Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center

Proven academic and clinical record within discipline
Experience and demonstrated interest in teaching residents and students in discipline
Promise of growth in teaching and research activities relating to the specialty
Bilingual in English/Spanish
ACLS/PALS/ATLS certifications

Required Qualifications
MD, DO degree
Residency training in Emergency Medicine at ACGME accredited program.
Licensed in Texas or eligible for Texas License
