Position Description
The Senior IT Support Technician has an expert level of technical knowledge and experience in one or more IT-related areas. This positions scope of responsibility includes providing technical support and assistance to departments, faculty, staff, and students with the use of hardware and some software support and maintenance. The Senior IT Support Technician will also specialize in hardware and software that support institutional strategic initiatives, and manage area or unit IT projects that impact multiple departments or units.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Provide technical expertise and support for desktop operating systems, hardware, security, and backup/recovery functions on a system level.
  • Maintain management of enterprise environment. 
  • Tanium administrator.
  • Responsible for Windows and MAC patch management; 3rd party applications.
  • Supervise PC Support projects. 
  • Assist Executive Administration with managing and maintaining of computers and programs.
  • Maintain the security and protection of electronic information resources to include computers, network, software and data.
  • Consult with vendors, service providers and technical support agents regarding purchase of hardware and software, status of repairs and software and hardware installation and other related questions.
  • PC tech liaison to all other IT support teams and departments.
  • Maintain logs, records and documentation.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time, consistent with established verbal and written policies, procedures, and schedules.
  • Fulfills departmental requirements in terms of providing work coverage and administrative notification during periods of personnel illness, vacation, or education.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT, or other related area
  • Plus seven (7) years related full-time paid experience OR
  • A combination of related education and/or experience to equal 11 years.
    • For HSC Only: Applicants for this position will be subject to a criminal background check after a conditional offer of employment has been extended, but before employment can be confirmed.
    • For TTU Only: Applicants for this Security Sensitive Level II position will be subject to a criminal background check and must pass a drug and alcohol test after a conditional offer of employment has been extended, but before employment can be confirmed.
