Position Description
Performs complex Academic Advising, educational, professional, or other advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate. Responsibilities may include analyzing special and/or complex problems. May coordinate and manage Academic Advising initiatives. May supervise Senior and other Academic Advisors. Performance is based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained. Work is performed under minimal supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Provides informative and collaborative academic advising for assigned student populations as well as assists Academic Advisors in complex cases. Responsible for providing educational guidance, assistance, and academic advising to both undergraduate and graduate students. Advises nursing students on strategies related to academic planning and academic success
  • Review, develop and implement strategic plans for increasing nursing recruitment, application and enrollment. Compiles and performs analysis of nursing student data utilizing technology and software. Identifies trends, evaluates enrollment, retention rates, and learning outcomes to assess student academic progress and graduation success rates
  • Supervise advising staff for SON. Perform evaluations, review timecards and recruit staff as needed. Provide direction to staff and have ability to recommend set standards/metrics
  • Oversees, develops and coordinates presentations for orientations, trainings, university events and activities regarding academic advising, retention initiatives, mentoring and academic success. Collaborates with campus and outside universities/colleges and departments to develop advising tools and resources. Coordinate special advising programs and initiatives using virtual and innovative electronic and/or social media platforms

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required plus two years relevant experience in higher education
  • Master’s degree from an accredited university
  • Experience with university Banner systems
  • CRM and other student admission software
  • Ability to analyze data from currently adopted solutions to monitor and evaluate the progress of target student populations
  • Ability to speak fluently in both English and Spanish
