Position Description
Performs specialized analytical duties in the operation and maintenance of assigned area. Responsibilities include collecting, analyzing and developing data relative to area, making recommendations and assisting in implementation of projects. Work is performed under general supervision with latitude for independent judgment in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Supervises and assures all research staff maintain a high quality of standards and perform proper job functions
  • Assess staffing needs for projects and hire and train research staff
  • Manage primary data collection, develop, and maintain databases
  • Collect and maintain all study related program documents and for regulatory and reporting purposes
  • Assist with post award management including preparation of progress and annual reports
  • Assistance with writing and editing of manuscripts
  • Maintain ethics and compliance standards including the completion of CITI training ,the protection of human subjects, institutional training and any additional training required by the institution or funding agency
  • Performs additional duties assigned by supervisor within the scope of position, following TTUHSC policies and procedures, in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department
  • Assist Investigators with research project and cancer prevention program development and implementations: Including preparation of human subjects applications and renewals. Development of research/educational materials, study protocols and procedures, and assist with grant and budget development
  • Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes
  • Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP's values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement and Teamwork). Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree plus four years progressively responsible related experience OR a combination of education and experience to equal eight years
Position Specific:
  • Bachelor's degree or specialized academic training beyond the Bachelor's level in a particular field of science or engineering equivalent to a Bachelor's degree
  • One year research experience
  • Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof
  • Must meet experience and educational requirements outlined in this position description questionnaire
  • Must have excellent English grammar and spelling skills.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills, be a team player, display flexibility, detail oriented, and be reliable and punctual
  • The ability to effectively present information, respond to questions from patients and the general public with strong written and oral communication skills is required.
  • Knowledge of data organization and analysis software for storing, analyzing, and reporting qualitative and quantitative data. Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment, and coordinate with colleagues at varying organizational levels.

  • Must be able to travel to collaborating sites throughout El Paso County and West Texas
