Position Description
Performs highly skilled mechanical and/or analytical duties in a lead position in the coordination and completion of projects. Work is performed under general guidelines using established procedures and evaluated on results obtained. Supervises subordinate employees.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Curriculum: Coordinates scheduling of anatomy curricular labs. Leads the Anatomy team in preparing all gross anatomy laboratory sessions. Actively participates in all anatomy lab sessions.
  • Anatomy Elective Coordination & Management: Coordinates details and maintains records for all Advanced Anatomy Elective students. Coordinates Surgical Anatomy elective details in conjunction with elective faculty directors.
  • Managing Lab Use: Maintain reservation schedule for gross anatomy labs as well as room 4120. Coordinate with residency programs, vendors, and other lab users to ensure sessions are scheduled & prepared appropriately. Represent anatomy labs to groups within and outside of TTUHSC EP.
  • Willed Body Program: Assists with WBP daily activities, to include: communication with donors & their families, receiving & removing donor cadavers, donor cadaver storage & movement, donor cadaver tracking, chemical & equipment management, and other details. Represents the WBP to other departments & outside agencies. Promotes WBP values and stated mission.
  • Lab Maintenance & Operations: Lead staff member responsible for properly cleaning, maintaining, handling, utilizing and disposing of lab equipment, instruments, chemicals and supplies. Responsible for regular inventories & communication of purchasing needs.
  • Anatomy Lab Images & Online Learning Platform Content Management: Takes the lead role in establishing protocols for lab image handling. Responsible for taking all images within anatomy labs and for managing images as per relevant policy. Responsible for maintenance of online learning platform content (Canvas, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in either a research or educational basic science laboratory required, as is a knowledge of basic chemistry and natural science principles.
  • Excellent communication skills both in written and spoken form.
  • Familiar with basic science and lab terminology.
  • This position requires some lifting, working with chemicals, access to confidential information, and requires initiative in learning new concepts.
  • Part of a teaching team and should be adaptable with a high ability to multi-task.
  • Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Practical anatomy knowledge and/or lab experience is preferred. Previous experience working in an anatomy lab, morgue, or with a mortuary or funeral service.
  • Practical knowledge and experience working with learning management platforms, such as Canvas is preferred.
  • Previous experience with photography, editing software, and information management is also preferred.
