Position Description
Performs mechanical work in the maintenance of buildings, vehicles, equipment and/or related systems. Work is performed under general supervision within established guidelines.

Major/Essential Functions
1. Works with other trades and maintenance staff to complete maintenance and installation of other building systems
2. Prepare and submit work documentation, to include work order submission, changes to system (e.g. directories), etc.
3. Install and maintain special systems and equipment such as modular furniture, telecomm, kitchen equipment, life safety systems, hoods, VFD's, etc.
4. Responsible for keeping all work areas, equipment and tools clean and in excellent working conditions
5. Performs service work to campus special events and functions. Performs other related and various job duties as assigned
6. Takes responsibility ownership and pride of assigned work and shares technical knowledge in relation to the assigned work with team members
7. Performs preventive maintenance on assigned building systems and/or equipment
8. Assists with the coordination of construction projects, subcontracted work and work performed by the department
9. Contributes with knowledge and skilled labor to construction and renovation projects of the institution
10.Responds to emergency calls to correct or remediate the problem
11. Installs, maintains, operates and repairs building systems and associated equipment
12. Actively participates and completes training, personal development and continuing education
13. Must have and maintain valid State of Texas Driver’s License. Must be able to pass the employee Criminal Background Check

Position Specific Qualifications:

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Basic Knowledge and ability to install, operate and maintain building systems and associated equipment. Skilled in the proper use of tools, equipment and devices used in the construction and maintenance trades. Knowledge of occupational and safety hazards. Wear appropriate PPE specific for the trade & follow processes to prevent accidents. Able to work and respond to emergency calls on weekends, holidays and after hours. Basic understanding of other trades and able to perform or assist in the completion of them.
