Position Description
The Neuropsychiatry Postdoctoral Position supports outstanding young scientists who are likely to shape the future of brain research. The program comes with traditional postdoctoral training period of 2 years, and provides exceptional mentoring and training. This position will enable recent PhD graduates with the resources to establish an independent research program. Fellows will be given full access to the Southwest Brain Bank, Research Lab, Clinical Department and also collaborations internally with the Department of Pathology, TTUHSCEP and with other researchers on campus and elsewhere. Postdoctoral fellows are appointed through individual faculty advisor from the Department of Psychiatry Research Program. Postdoctoral fellow appointed will work under the mentor’s supervision honing their scientific and mentorship skills, preparing them to advance to significant research positions in their career.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Assists the PI in designing and accomplishing the experiments, tissue quality measurements, interactions with ME and administrative duties to include maintaining performance reports, biosketches, statistics, grant development and submission
  • Develop and implement human research laboratory experiments on research aims of the designated project Will conduct experiments on Flow Cytometry (FACS), ELISA, Multiplex, Immunohistochemistry, Western Blotting techniques Will perform experiments using primary cultures from fresh brain samples. Will work on projects related to cell signaling molecular markers and epigenetics in psychiatry disorders. May assist in formulation of research objectives and determine the scope of methodologies of research projects and areas to be evaluated; May assist in writing manuscripts and providing feedback. May assist in providing feedback relating to research design, planning, instrumentation, statistical analysis, and reporting; works with researchers on the administration of experiments and interpretation of results for research and teaching
  • Writing manuscript, troubleshooting experiments, presentations at internal and external meetings
  • Recruit, enroll, assess, and track participants as they complete protocols for various Psychiatry studies. Assist Research Director and PI in coordinating and performing a wide variety of research related functions including assessments, data collection, data entry, interpretation of data and data analysis, collecting blood and biological samples
