Position Description
This position provides technical support to the Ophthalmology staff and residents. Examines eyes to determine nature and degree of vision problem or eye disease and prescribes corrective lenses or procedures.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Will provide optometry services for academic medical center, provide patient care services in outpatient and inpatient setting
  • Will participate in the overall teaching program for teaching and training of residents and medical student to include presentation of lectures.
  • Assist in overall clinical administrative operations making suggestion as to how to improve operational efficiency practice within the Department of Surgery.
  • Will participate in committees and other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Will ensure compliance and HIPPA and billing regulations will adhere to institutional and departmental policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrate record of effectiveness in operating practice office.
  • Additional coursework in business administration
  • Experience in clinical research and teaching.
  • Must have an issued DEA license and need Glaucoma Certificate.

Required Qualifications
  • Graduated from a recognized School of Optometry (O.D.)
  • Licensed as an Optometrist in the State of Texas or have the ability to transfer your license to Texas
  • No previous experience.
