Position Description
Employees in this classification serve under the supervision of an Othopaedic Surgeon and/or Head Nurse, as a member of the Orthopaedic team in the operating room and/or clinic or hospital. The chief function is to aide the Orthopaedic surgeon in the training of resident physicians in casting, splinting, and traction techniques. May be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the orthopedic bracing and supply program throughout the practice according to regulations, policies and procedures.

Major/Essential Functions

 * Employee will perform casting, splinting, and traction skills in the operating room, hospital units and clinic
* Maintains and supervises "hospital based "inventory of traction and splinting related hardware & orthopedic related equipment.
  Assist in maintaining orthopedic support related OR based equipment day to day. Assist in set up and removal of traction related equipment on beds located in hospital's general patient care units to include beds in hospital intensive care units and Emergency Center
* Maintains adequate day to day operating inventory of all casting and splinting related supplies/equipment for outpatient surgery clinic. Maintains order and cleanliness of outpatient clinic casting rooms at all times. Ensures maintenance and day to day operational functionality of all casting and splinting support in accessories in Departments O. P. Clinic.
* Assist in performing patient care related tasks and responsibilities (day to day) as needed in the Department's outpatient clinic environment and hospital environment.

Preferred Qualifications
* Three or more years of experience as an orthopedic assistant.
* Some supervisory experience preferred
* Ability to speak fluent Spanish/English for patient translation
* Maintain annual CME requirements for support of existing certification

Required Qualifications
A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of Orthopedic Technician training and certification program   Experience: Three years of related experience. Current CPR Certification
