Position Description
Employees in this position are responsible for augmenting a supervising physician's data gathering abilities to reach decisions and institute patient care plans. Provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of Physician.

Major/Essential Functions
Provides patient services under direct supervision and responsibility of physician and/or medical director.
Elicits detailed patient history, examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data including health history results of physical. 
Develops and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regiments, emotional problems of daily living and health maintenance.
Administers/orders diagnostic tests such as x-rays, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests; interprets test results for deviations from normal. 
May render emergency medical service without supervision, pending the arrival of a responsible physician, in cases where immediate diagnosis and treatment to avoid disability or death.   
Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, and managing infection.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in physician assistant studies or related, must be eligible to obtain physician assistant license granted by the Texas Physician Assistant Board, and must be certified as a PA by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
