Employees in this position are responsible for augmenting a supervising physician's data gathering abilities to reach decisions and institute patient care plans. Provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of a Physician.
This mid-level provider is a member of the orthopaedic surgery healthcare team that practices under the direct (and medical license) of the attending level orthopaedic surgeon(s). The clinician works in collaboration with the orthopaedic resident physician team and hospital based nursing and ancillary support staff in the medical management and efficient thru put of both the inpatient and outpatient orthopaedic patient population. The typical duties for the clinician will include (but not limited to) performing history & physical exams, collection of documentation of data, completion of admission and discharge orders, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies, performs professional consultations (both in the inpatient as well as outpatient environments), prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, while consistently interacting with patients and known family members. The certified nurse practitioner/physician assistant will bill for his/her services according to medical practice plan guidelines, state and federal regulations, while providing all necessary documentation to substantiate all claims.
Position Specific qualifications: Current RN license in the state of Texas. Four to five years experience as Registered Nurse with the relevant past experience in an operating room, surgical or orthopaedic specific patient care environment. Current certification in Advance Cardiac Life Support (auditing of) Advance Trauma Life Support Courses. Current experience and certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant or Family Practitioner. Previous "hands on" experience in application and manipulation of casting materials and splinting devices.
Minimum Hire Rate
typically 7am - 7pm, based on patient needs
Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Two to four years as an Adult Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant working in a busy multi-specialty orthopaedic group practice. Five to eight years experience as a Registered Nurse with relevant experience in a perioperative / operating room environment, surgical orthopaedic patient care units. Certification, knowledge and hands on experience as an orthopaedic cast & splinting technician. Current certification and two years "hands on" experience as a "first assistant" in a busy hospital based operating room environment. Two years experience as an Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant assigned to the "Trauma Response Team" in an A.C.S. verified Level I Trauma Center.
