Position Description
The Senior Director of IPE has the responsibility and authority to oversee institutional strategy and operations related to IPE, including supportive infrastructure and external partnerships in the delivery of inter-professional education and related policy development. The Senior Director reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and will work closely with faculty and administrators from across TTUHSC El Paso and other institutions and community stakeholders to design, organize, and evaluate IPE programming. The Senior Director will also work with the Office of Academic Affairs and the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness (OIRE) to implement and maintain the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) on IPE at TTUHSC El Paso.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Develop, implement and maintain a strategic and operational plan for IPE that ensures effective, evidence-based, and collaborative IPE programming across TTUHSC El Paso academic curricula
  • Lead the creation and design of practical frameworks and resources for the incorporation of didactic and clinical instruction to embed IPE learning experiences for students enrolled in TTUHSC El Paso academic programs.
  • Oversee institutional-level IPE program development and execute IPE programming, ranging from working with faculty in designing, organizing, delivering and evaluating IPE modules (inclusive of identifying and recruiting learners, developing session content and facilitating small group sessions) for undergraduate and graduate students in health-related professional and biomedical programs
  • Identify and provide training and resources to faculty, staff, and students to ensure ongoing support for IPE programming within and across TTUHSC El Paso schools and individual academic programs
  • Provide evidence-based, expert guidance to TTUHSC El Paso faculty and staff, and the health sciences community at large, on issues related to IPE
  • Collaborate with the Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness (OIRE), and other institutional leaders as may be designated, to implement and maintain the SACSCOC Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) on IPE at TTUHSC El Paso, to develop survey and evaluation instruments to capture benchmark data as may be required for institutional accreditation and otherwise as assigned, to provide continued assessment of and for courses or programs impacted by IPE, to analyze student outcome data for ongoing effectiveness and improvement of IPE strategies, and to produce the SACSCOC QEP proposal and any required QEP reports related to compliance with SACSCOC standards

Preferred Qualifications
  • Five years of health-related instructional and administrative experience in higher education, preferably at a health-related institution or health sciences center.
  • Five years of experience in the development and application of IPE in health-related academic programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IPE pedagogy and best practices related to the design and implementation of IPE curricula.
  • Demonstrated commitment to education and student excellence.
  • Thorough knowledge of SACSCOC policies and accreditation processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of TTUHSC El Paso academic policies, procedures and operations.
  • Academic grant acquisition and management skills.

Occasional Duties
  • Prepare instructional and clinical faculty, community-based faculty and preceptors, to teach IPE competencies through curriculum/instruction design, the development of IPE learning objectives, assessment, and quality improvement activities
  • Coordinate scholarly and assessment/evaluation efforts related to TTUHSC El Paso IPE initiatives, and lead the dissemination of findings to share innovative, evidence-based, best practice IPE models with the wider IPE and/or academic health-related Audiences
  • Convene and engage IPE experts and leaders, educators, healthcare practitioners, and policy-makers to build an IPE network for the TTUHSC El Paso community, and to support a shared vision, bringing local and state-wide attention to the quality enhancement provided to health science students through IPE
  • Attend IPE trainings and travel to regional/national meetings related to IPE; apply and share knowledge gained to improve institutional IPE strategies and practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned
