Position Description
This position is responsible for assuring smooth operation of the front clinic patient flow. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position may responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may be responsible for cash.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Schedules surgeries, verifies benefits, obtains authorizations, prepares productivity reports and attends surgery meetings. Provides unit manager with feedback on surgery meetings
  • Oversight of PSS Staff
  • Reviews patient flow to determine availability of staff and coordination of duties to include providing coverage as deemed necessary.  Reports any scheduling issues to Unit Manager
  • Intervenes and handles issues relating to patient problems, concerns, or complaints, and takes measures to correct situations
  • Responsible to review and correct assigned staff time clock entries, making adjustments as deemed necessary

Pay Statement

Occasional Duties
  • Responsible for auditing of all cash collected daily in the clinic to assure PSS staff balance with Phreesia entries and securing cash bags in the safe at the end of the shift
  • Attend meetings which include being part of committees to assist in improving operational efficiency
  • Performs other related duties as deemed necessary by immediate supervisor. Serves as back-up to Sr. PSS. Travel to offsite clinics to assist with staffing and work flow
  • Attends Scheduling Meetings to review Providers schedules in order to eliminate scheduling errors
  • Creates master templates in Centricity system for existing and new Providers of the OB/GYN department. Reviews and coordinates schedules to maximize utilization of Providers

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of customer service, office or related experience with two of those years in a healthcare setting
  • Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement
