Major/Essential Functions
  • This is a pooled position for various offices under the oversight of the Vice President for the Office for Outreach and Community Engagement. Student Assistants will be required to provide excellent customer service to all visitors, faculty, students and staff
  • Provide administrative support and work closely with senior personnel in the Office for Outreach and Community Engagement (OOCE), Diversity Inclusion and Global Health (ODIGH), and Office for Desert Mountain Area Health Education (AHEC). Duties will be assigned according to personal skills and knowledge related to performance of responsibilities
  • Assist with administrative duties for various community outreach and engagement operations, event planning, and meetings on behalf of OOCE, ODIGH, or AHEC
  • Assist senior personnel with data entry for various community outreach and engagement databases on behalf of OOCE, ODIGH, and AHEC
  • Assist with upload and/or scanning of documentation via various platforms
  • Assist with managing supply storage and supply inventory as needed on behalf of OOCE, ODIGH, and AHEC
  • Assist with graphic design work on a wide range of community outreach and engagement event brochures, announcements, and other marketing materials targeted and distributed to internal and external audiences on behalf of OOCE, ODIGH, and AHEC as needed
  • Assist senior personnel with updating event calendars and website. Social media content creation as needed for community outreach and engagement events and activities on behalf of OOCE, ODIGH, and AHEC
  • Assist with activities designed to introduce K-16 students to health care, as well as provide information on a variety of health-related topics to community partners
  • Participate in health education fairs to motivate young people in rural and underserved areas to choose a career in the health field
  • Assist OOCE with administrative duties related to community faculty recruitment operations, event planning, and meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned in areas under the oversight of the Vice President for Outreach and Community Engagement

  • Good written and verbal communication skills and critical thinking

  • An undergraduate or graduate student at TTUHSC El Paso who is currently enrolled in at least 6 hours
  • Students must get permission from the Dean of their respective school to work on campus
  • Must have earned a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have knowledge of computers (Mac/PC) and their programs
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision during evening and weekend hours when necessary
