Major/Essential Functions
  • This is a pooled position for various areas in the Student Services and Student Affairs (SSSA) Office. Student Assistants will be required to provide excellent customer service to all visitors, to include students, staff, and faculty. Student Assistants will be working closely with the Student Affairs and Wellness office, the Registrar, Financial Aid, and the Academic Success and Accessibility Office (ASAO), Students will be hired according to personal skills and knowledge
  • SSSA student assistants will provide administrative support for the front office/reception area to include the Registrar's, Financial Aid, the ASAO offices.
  • Responsible for uploading confidential documents via various platforms/databases. Duties to include, filing, placing orders, copying, faxing, and other tasks assigned by Directors/administrative personnel.
  • Performs editorial, layout, and graphic design work on a wide range of brochures, newsletters, posters, and other marketing materials which are targeted to students, faculty, and staff audiences.
  • Responsibilities include increasing student outreach, updating event calendars and website, social media content creation and management, surveys, and other duties as assigned. Provide and implement departmental, educational, and/or professional resources to Registered Student Organizations (RSOs). 
  • Aid in creating and supporting education resources for the nine dimensions of wellness, facilitating wellness activities, assisting wellness class instructors, and other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain cleanliness and an inventory log of all items in the storage unit for Student Services and Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) and determine reorders/refills as necessary. 
  • Perform a safety and observational walk-through of all student lounges and report cleanliness, necessary refills, issues, etc. Prepare equipment and materials to provide direct assistance with institutional, departmental, and Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) events, initiatives, and programming as needed.
  • Collect all financial expenditure receipts for the department, scan into PDF files, and assist with supporting documentation files as needed.
  • Maintain copiers, printers, scanners, laminators, and other equipment by stocking with paper, adding toner, clearing paper jams, cleaning screens, etc.

Preferred Qualifications
A Texas Tech University undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in at least 6 hours employed to perform work which does not require academic training at the graduate level. Good written and verbal communication skills and critical thinking. Must work well in a team. Proficiency on social media platforms and familiar with content creation. General knowledge of wellness and physical fitness programming.
