Position Description
Under general supervision performs skilled mechanical or analytical duties on various projects. May supervise subordinate employees.

Major/Essential Functions
Tracks and schedules laboratory/equipment use based on equipment and scheduled laboratory activities.

Conducts routine monitoring of CO2, liquid nitrogen, glass boxes, biohazard bins, cold room reading, etc.

Escorts vendors and technicians in support of departmental and building operations.

Primary responsibility for issuing and tracking facilities-related work order in support of departmental and building operations.

Assists with maintaining, troubleshooting, responding, repairing or refurbishing building and laboratory equipment and creatively designing or adapting department and building equipment to meet specific needs, including coordination with institutional support departments such as Facilities Services and IT as necessary.

Assists with supporting building equipment and facilities by ensuring proper procedures are being followed in regards to equipment and their respective warranties or service agreement.

Responsible for tracking assigned projects such as equipment recertification, trainings, etc.

Ensures department call lists and freezer monitoring contacts are reviewed, verified, updated and published as changes occur.

Conducts NESOP walkthroughs for new personnel in the Department of Molecular and Translational Medicine, as well as all personnel with access to LARC and RCL.

Assists with prompt remediation of building or lab-related incidents in collaboration with institutional support departments, as appropriate.

Assists with conducting scheduled and unscheduled departmental laboratory inspections to ensure compliance with federal, state and institutional regulations. Ensures prompt remediation of resulting safety issues, in collaboration with Safety Services, as appropriate.

Assists with the management of departmental inventory. Responsibility may include: tracking all tagged assets by location; assisting with the annual physical inventory of all tagged assets; issuing, modifying retracting temporary use firms as appropriate; evaluating tagged and non-tagged assets for surplus as appropriate; assisting with quotes and purchases of capital assets and other equipment.

Assists with development and implementation of laboratory safety materials and equipment use and safety materials as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
Candidate will have general knowledge of building and lab related functions. Must know Microsoft Office Suite.

Ideal candidate should have general microbiology knowledge and safety standards familiarity. Will have lab equipment experience related to general microbiology. Coursework in biology, molecular biology or biochemistry.
