Position Description
Safely performs journeyman level tasks in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of fixtures, equipment, structures, buildings, and built-in components for Texas Tech facilities. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions
-Installs, operates, and repairs electrical equipment and systems of all types in accordance with the latest NEC guidelines.
-Updates, maintains and coordinates information and schematic drawings pertaining to the facilities' mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
-Performs preventative maintenance on all existing electrical systems and equipment.
-Prepare and submit work documentation, to include wok order submission, changes to system (e.g. directors) and PMs. Ensures documentation is prepared accurately and in a timely manner to monitor equipment.
-Keeps all work areas and related electrical equipment and/or tool rooms clean at all times.
-Takes care of all tools belonging to the institutional hat are being used by the electrical department.
-Provides quick and efficient response to campus emergencies.
-Performs other similar and related duties as assigned by supervisor that utilize the employee's education, experience and unique skill set.
-Assist in special maintenance and construction projects as necessary.  May cover the 24/7 work shift if required.
-Actively participates and completes training, personal development, and continuing education.
-Must have and maintain valid State of Texas drivers license and be listed as an approved driver as determined by Risk Management and insurance carrier.  Must be able to pass the employee criminal Background Check.

Pay Statement
Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.

-Skilled in proper use of the tools equipment and devices used in the construction and maintenance trade.
-Knowledge of occupational and safety hazards in trade and PPE & processes to prevent accidents.
-Able to work and respond to emergencies on weekends, holidays and after hours.
-Basic understanding of other technical trades (HVAC, fire alarms, elevators, construction) and able to perform or assist in the completion of them.

Required Qualifications
Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent. Three years experience in designated trade or licensed journeyman.
