Major/Essential Functions
Oversee the daily operations of the Referral Management Unit by developing and executing office procedures and guidelines to maximize efficiency.
Supervise unit staff to include recruitment, training, leave administration, evaluating employees and coaching.
Perform the activities of unit staff when needed, such as in situations of short staffing to avoid delays in meeting expected goals. These daily activities include: 1) processing of incoming referrals from internal and external sources to include: referral receipt, referral review, request of new referral when applicable, communication with patient and/or referring sources, new patient registration/update, scheduling, insurance authorization and financial counseling; and 2) submitting consultants' replies from incoming referrals to referring sources.
Responsible for developing and monitoring of performance metrics for the unit in order to maximize efficiency in referral management and in staff productivity.
Train staff as needed in the appropriate use of software and other tools needed to perform their function. (Electronic Medical Records, CBiz., Referral Management System and any Potential Replacements or additions).
